I am no stranger to ASUS Zenfone phones having already reviewed Asus Zenfone 5 and Asus Zenfone 2 earlier. When I came across Asus Zenfone 2 Deluxe phone, the first thing that struck me about the phone was its gorgeous looks. Hence, when I got the opportunity to review the phone for a week, I was eager to take it up. After all, I had used and liked it cousin Asus Zenfone 2. Here is what I experienced:
Striking looks: Asus Zenfone 2 Deluxe captivates you with its beautiful back that has fancy gem cut shaped design and a coating that reflects light like jewelry. I got a white phone which is pristine, understated and really elegant. It is bound to turn heads when you walk with it in your hand. It has a sturdy back that is quite easy to grip. I did droll over the beautiful purple and pink that they also have in their range. Yes, I can see women taking to this phone just like they do to a beautiful piece of jewelry.
Camera: The camera is another reason that many have preferred this phone. It has no dearth of options when it comes to clicking pictures. It has a 13 MP front camera and a 5 MP selfie camera with options that will make your head spin at the sheer choice at your disposal. From HDR, Depth of Field to Panorama, low light settings and selfie options that I have not seen in any phone. The selfies are by far the nicest that I have taken on this phone. They are clear even in low light and give you multiple options for beautification right when you are clicking the pic. The only hitch, I did feel that at night the pictures turn out with a yellowish tinge probably overexposed. I don’t know if I could have rectified it by fiddling with the settings. But I was not abe to correct that one. Selfies in good light were excellent quality.
The low light setting pictures however come a bit grainy.
ZenFlash: Its Xenon Flash has been touted a lot. I have not experienced anything like this before with a smartphoe and was keen to try it on. It is very easy to use by attaching it below the camera at the rear to give a powerful flash which complements the already wonderful flash while clicking the pictures.
As you can see from the pictures even in zero light, you can get good quality pictures. The only problem, it keeps slipping down due to the diamond cut design at the back of the phone. One has to manually hold it in place making it slightly uncomfortable to take pictures.
0 to 60 in 39 minutes: For someone like me who normally wakes up to charging the phone before heading out, this feature is a great boon. Just reach 60% of charge in 39 minutes with their BoostMaster feature. So thoughtful, I’d say!
The 5.5” screen is just the size I am comfortable with these days. The volume control buttons at the rear is ingenious. So convenient, I wish more phones would have this feature. The look and feel, performance and good battery life all continue to impress.
Overall, if you are a selfie enthusiast, this phone offers you great options to take the best selfies you can with beautification options right when you click. The highlight for me are its rich looks. Team it with a good outfit and it will glitter like an elegant signature jewelry piece.
