June was a month of many trials. Routine was resumed as both the kids went back to school, and I had the cherished silence at home to work. So here’s a look back at what transpired this month:

gratitude June

Health and Fitness:

As almost all of you are aware, my knee trouble continued in June. I tried to rest the knee as much as possible, and I am happy to say that things started getting better. I am almost 60% healed and when I visited the doctor at month end, he was hopeful that I should be almost normal in another month hopefully. That fills me with so much hope and happiness, I can’t tell you. Of course, I am still careful with the knee but I am now allowed to walk a little and continue with my stretches and other strengthening exercises. I am now able to climb steps albeit gingerly. Most importantly, I am pain free unless I overdo something. So this is the most joyful news in June. I am so very grateful that the knee is healing.

I also had my annual health checkup this month and dang I am severely deficient in Vitamin D. It’s so frustrating. So I’ve started on supplements which will continue for 3 months. I am also going to the terrace every morning to catch sun. Glad to report that I’ve done it diligently the entire month and hope to continue it as long as I can.

Overall health has been decent. I do miss my workouts but I am determined to see this knee injury through completely.

Family:

My father celebrated his birthday this month and it was also Father’s Day. Though not in the same city, we ploughed him with wishes. Can never feel grateful enough for his wise counsel.

Older son is in the thick of extra curricular activities and classes. Younger boy is slowly easing into the new year’s curriculum. Nothing much to mention on that front. Coco is doing better. He misses his evening walks on those occasions when it rains. And when I drag him to the terrace, he prefers to avoid sunlight. Lazy bum he is!

Grateful for the kids and the husband for being so patient and taking all the extra running around that they do because I can’t in their stride.

Entertainment:

This month was all about football. I only watch football from World Cup to World Cup. 🙂 So evenings are taken up by it. I also managed to finish watching The Good Wife. Loved it. It had drama and law. Both of which I like. Every single time when I watch an engrossing series on Netflix or Amazon, I wonder why we can’t have such stories on Indian television. I am sure we have good writers and actors. Now I have moved on to The Crown on Netflix which I am immensely enjoying. In between, we watched Incredibles 2 as a family, which was a very enjoyable outing. 6 months without TV and I don’t miss it at all. 🙂

Strangely, I am not reading at all — books I mean. Don’t know why but I don’t feel like picking anything up.

Work

Work is going on smoothly, thank heavens for it. Trying and testing a lot of marketing activities for Coco Smart Homes. The blogs are doing well and happy with the brands I am working with. I have been paying more attention to the cooking blog, working more on the pictures and also on Pinterest and it is reaping good dividends. I have already doubled the traffic on the blog in 3 months. I did take this Pinterest course which helped me achieve a good momentum on Pinterest in a short time. This is the link if you wish to try it out too Pinterest Ninja.

Hope to continue the good run. I have also revived Rachna Cooks Food Channel and hopefully will continue to add regular videos.

Overall, life is extremely busy and full at the moment. And I say it with utmost equanimity. I am keeping the stress and worry under control. Despite uncertainty and extenuating circumstances on many occasions, I am glad to say that I am keeping myself optimistic and result oriented. I tend to worry too much so I stop myself when I feel that I am slipping into that mode.

On that note, that was my June. Hope July is even better. Hopefully I will fully recover with respect to the knee at the end of it. Fingers crossed!

21 Thoughts on “Monthly Roundup and #Gratitude This June

  1. Wow, that is quite some action on all the fronts. And that too with a hurty knee. Wondering how you manage so many blogs and now added a vlog too.

Taking inspiration from you to be level-headed, come what may. The morning sky snap is awesome.

All the best for the July and full recovery for your knee.

  2. June has been awesome for you in so many ways! Touch wood.
Glad that your knee is healing… I know how these pains and aches can derail your everyday life. Congratulations for soaring blog stats. Pinterest workshop sounds interesting… will check it out when I have some breathing space.
Oh, tell me about these Netflix series… they are soooo good. I just finished Seven Seconds and season 4 of Dexter. I have watched 2 episodes of Crown and will pick up from the next episode soon. I have not been reading as well and it’s playing on my mind. Have a great July, Rachna!

    • Yes, it has, Shilpa. Thanks. The biggest problem with these series is that they are so addictive. One has to tear oneself away from binge watching. 🙂 I haven’t seen Seven Seconds. Dexter was really good. Watched it a few years back. I know I must start reading again, hopefully soon. Wish you a happy July as well.

  3. I see a lot of good things happened in June- birthdays, awards, blog growth- and also very pleased to hear about the mending knee. It can be tough to stay out of the loop especially for someone as active as you so big hugs and good vibes to get through this well.

SO proud of everything that you’re doing for Coco Smart Homes. Good to see a business thrive, no? Your morning sunning time is such a welcome thing to see on my TL. Good to hear you’re keeping it going.

Oh and hearty congrats on the MoneyView certificate too.

Looking forward to more videos then on the YouTube channel. Good to be productively occupied no? I loved our chats last month. Shall call you again next week 🙂 Have a splendid July.

    • I can’t tell you how much I am longing to see the day when I will have a pain free and perfectly normal right knee. Injury does teach you so many things. I am trying to do the best I can. Sometimes I despair but then I pull myself out of it. Yes, work has been good. That’s a saving grace. Keeping occupied helps a lot. 🙂

I am really enjoying the sunning. The sun is so beautiful just now and watching the clouds flitter past and doing my stretches there feels really precious. Thank you for all your precious thoughts and wishes. Wish you a spectacular July as well.

  7. As I read this, did you know what came to my mind? Women do so much. Of course, that and the fact that you inspire so many of us. I hope you have a great July and do take care of the Vitamin D levels. I’m having back ache for a month now and I have a feeling Vitamin D has something to do with it. I need to go to the doctor but can’t seem to find the time and when I do I just want to sleep.

  8. Dear Rachna,

One word: Superwoman! Yes that’s you. You wear so many hats, and that too deftly. So try not to stress and worry yourself too much.
I can so relate to the injury pangs. I had one in April, and it left me derailed from my workouts for almost 2-1/2 months, except a walk here and there. Well, I got lazy too. But I’m getting back on my feet this July, slowly and surely. have started strength training and hope to return to my saddle with vengeance too.

Congratulations on the wins and also birthday wishes to your daddy dearest.

Will look forward to your videos.

Here’s wishing you a glorious July!

    • Reading about your injury and recovery gives me strength. I guess one can’t push these things. It will heal when it has to heal. I will try to stress less. Thanks for your lovely wishes.

  9. Glad to hear the knee is on it’s way towards complete recovery. I like the idea of getting some sun on the terrace. If i were to do that here though, I would roast to death:)))
Your posts always inspire me, Rachna and this one did too. Wishing you an awesome July!

    • I know! Lucky that Bangalore sun especially during monsoons is not harsh. Yes, fingers crossed for the knee. The recovery is so very slow.

  10. I’d echo what Naba said. We women indeed do so much and you are the perfect example for it 🙂

So happy to know that the knee is better. You’ll bounce back with renewed gusto I’m sure. The vitamin D bit sucks, but do not neglect it. Quite a few people I know are going through this.

Kudos on the achievements and the work front. I know how hard you work for it and the results have to be this marvelous. You deserve every award that comes your way for the work you do.

I’m loving your food blogs and am glad to see that you have become more regular there. The food channel videos are clean, precise and so helpful. Continue this and you’ll rock!

Wishing you good health and happiness in July, Rachna.

  11. Wow Rachna.. I love the zeal with which you take up everything, whether its your blogging, your new venture or with regards to your family and health. Glad your knee is healing now and fitness is a regime yet again. Congratulations on your award from IB you so deserve it. also on the pinterest traffic. I still need to be working on mine.
All the best for your days in the month ahead rachna and would love to read more inspiring posts as this.

    • Thanks so much, Ramya. Pinterest as a platform requires sustained effort and starts showing results only after a few months. I am sure you will do great. Knee is not completely healed so no regular exercises at the moment but going to get there soon.

  12. Aha! Finally made it back here. And it’s good to catch up with your monthly round up. I have been seeing most of your updates on Instagram, so let’s start with congratulations on the award and of course, doing a good job with the blogs. Glad to know that your health is getting better too.
Oh, I’m sure you’ll enjoy The Crown.
I feel that way with reading too, these days. Almost disinterested for some reason. But I’m hoping to get back into it. Just like I keep hoping to get back into writing.
Here’s to a better July, Rachna

  13. Congratulations on the many accomplishments, Rachna. They are all very well deserved.

I am glad the knee is doing better. My knee pain has subsided too, though not completely gone.

I see all your videos on Youtube, so I’m glad you will be posting more soon.

    Here’s to a wonderful July! 🙂

  14. That pic of you with coco doing yoga together is just so adorable. I am glad you were able to stretch out a bit. The vitamin D is not a surprise as it’s a common complaint with 80% of people today. And my doc said I have to keep taking it on and off. BTW for absorption, it’s the early morning sun that lets the body absorb the vitamin. Now a days they say that due to ozone layer issues the suns rays that reach us more harmful than beneficial. So go easy on th sun worshipping ?

Hopefully your kneee will be back in shape this month and July will see you hopping and jumping around.
