Life, it hits you just when everything seems perfect;

Challenges – what are they — Mistakes or decisions?

How do you stay afloat and do the right thing?

Why does the right thing feel like a delusion?

What has to be done has been done

Life goes on albeit with regret

Sometimes the right way is just so wrong!

66 Thoughts on “A perfect life?

  1. So true! At times right is slightly wrong and wrong is slightly right..Maybe that i why we are growing more and more comfortable with grays.

  2. Oh ho ho! This comes as such a coincidence. I was just talking about the same thing with my close friend. That lots of times we take decisions and are questioned about it, judged by it! Well, sometimes I feel about some decisions too, but never regret. We take decisions based on the information we have then and the circumstances at that precise point in time! Well written Rachna. Is this for the writing prompt exercise that Corinne had floated?

    • May be the right decision, may have been the wrong, but what’s done is done! Lovely post Rachna, keep coming back to it!

      • And sometimes, we just keep going back and judging our own decisions, don’t we? No, I didn’t write it as a prompt. Just some thoughts that were bothering me and I scribbled them. Don’t know if they make any sense. Some decisions make you feel bad either way. How terrible is that!

  3. Yes, sometimes the right way is just so wrong but it also shows how strong you are. But why this big cloud of sadness in this post?

    • Aptly put, Jas! I had to take a tough call on something. I did what I thought was right though in some ways it was very wrong. It made me feel very very sad.

  4. Hmmm, is there a perfect life?
What is right for u might be wrong for others. It is always complicated

  5. The truth my dear is, there are no absolute truths 🙂

  6. Choices – that’s what life is all about…making them and living with the consequences. Isn’t that what makes it interesting? 🙂

  7. Hey..I didn’t get notification for this one. Just letting you know. 🙂 Btw, I’m in the phase that you spoke in the few lines…Delusive about the right thing!! 🙁

  8. Such is life. These are facts of life..Hence,maintain a positive approach, dream big and move on.I personally believe that it’s all pre destined

  9. Hi Rachna,

Well, as they say, the truth is not only stranger but vastly more interesting than fiction. There is no such thing as perfection, it exists only on paper as an ideal case scenario.
Maybe you should check out my list of 10 things which one should stop doing.

A post with a good message attached to it.

  10. The right way is not wrong, but only appears wrong to the onlookers. Our conscience and our mind instructed us to act that way and so it has to be right. And like Jas has pointed out, it only shows one is strong, not wrong! What prompted this post? Was it JLT?

    • I have been in tough situations where what seemed right is wrong in some ways and the other choice is just too hard to make. Finally one ends up with a bad feeling about the decision as well as guilt too. Just one of those introspections. Always makes me realize that life has so many more grays.

  11. Ahh…the mysteries of life. Only time can tell.

  12. So true…. I remember a quote I heard in some movie about taking hard decisions… went something like this: ”there is no right or wrong… it is about what you do or don’t do”

  13. Hi Rachna,

very well written. There nothing called absolute perfection in life. And things are seldom divided into right or wrong. More than often we have to chose between wrong and lesser wrong.

  14. Ah, Rachna, you have made me think. For I face choices right now – in fact I have made mine, and sit nibblng my nails wondering if I have made the right ones. I cling to Susan Jeffries’ Feel The Fear And Do It Anyway: she says it’s not about right and wrong, rather about different flavours. Let us hope this is true.

  15. Understand you completely. Time heals.

  16. Whatever the situation is, if it’s reversible – don’t sweat it, really, we make decisions with the knowledge of today, tomorrow we will know a bit more and it could well seem that the yesterday decision was not perfect – and if so, fix it. If the decision you have to make is irreversible – then what’s the point of regretting it, as long as you put the best of intentions in the solution you applied. Looking back … so tempting, yet so pointless if you gonna cry over spilled milk. Strength and… forward!

    • Sometimes they are not because you don’t want them to reverse. You commit mistakes and then want to put them behind and move on. I know there is no point in regretting, but sometimes you keep going back there and wondering! Move forward — I know :).

  17. Rachna,

I wonder if any one has perfect life. We all go through a lot and make our share of right or wrong choices / decisions. Only way to have peace of mind is to do what conscience permits.

    Take care

  18. The right remains right! The judgemental mind only makes the differentiation based on circumstances!

I would call this perfect and normal. Thats life; and you go with the flow. Good one Rachna

  20. Hmmm…I never knew there is something called as right way-:) an avid wrong wayer… but what the heck, at least I am on some way -:) Watch so many just sitting, and sitting and sitting…

  21. There is no such thing as perfect — it is but an illusion. 🙂 I agree though…when things seem smooth sailing, stuff happens to rock the boat. I guess though it is a way of seeing how resilient we are and just how quickly we can bounce back from a setback. And it makes us appreciate the smooth times a lot more!! As for decisions, I have blogged about it a few times — if only we knew the outcome before we made it! But then again, it takes away the mystery and the learning….

  22. 🙂 Everything okay? So glad there are choices, right? Hugs.

  23. Rt now, I am in the midst of making some important decisions and all of it seemed to be written for me , me and only me ha ha 🙂

  24. at times we also believe what is true is actually false and vice verse .. life is like a box of chocolates ..

also ma’am don’t you think right or wrong is a very subjective term .. what may be right to you may not be right for me…

  25. Guess, nothing matters in the end analysis. What seemed right now, may look wrong 3 months down the line and again right one year down the line and once again wrong 5 years down the line. They say right or wrong, it is good to decide one way or the other. Sometimes it pays to not decide and let things take their course as well

  26. absolutely right that choices are often clear as right or wrong! We just have to make the best out of what we’re given!

  27. Life is so difficult and becomes all the more when what we think is right turns out to be wrong. Wish the line between the two is more pronounced.

  28. i go with The Fool.nothing matters in the end analysis. how u doing rachna?wishes

  29. Whatever those decisions are, Rachana, you write with an honest heart and that is worth appreciating.

  30. rightly pointed out . . following what your heart says is the best way to be happy . .chances are more that what proves right for us seems wrong in others eyes . . well , your post has the solution to that 🙂

  31. Hi Rachna,Life is a challenge.,like a coin, ‘heads or tail.’We take a desicion, whether right or wrong, it cannot be undone I can very well understand your feelings. You have expressed your thoughts excellently,They seem to come out from the very core of your heart.

  32. We are right or wrong at the moment based on our present circumstances. Days or weeks or years later you might have an entirely different view.

    • Agree Amit! Sometimes the decision affects your future but you have to take it now. You don’t know how it would have actually panned out, but that is the risk you have to take.

Do not leave without commenting. I love a good conversation :).
