My son, Gautam, fell sick with terrible cough and cold right on Sunday. This entire week, he has been unwell and has missed school. He has this horrible-sounding nagging cough, which goes on and on. It is especially worse at night. He is on a cough syrup prescribed by the doctor. I am also giving him ginger-honey and trying to give him steam when he can take it. He vomits if anything is even slightly bitter to his taste, and he is hardly eating anything. Try reasoning with a 3 year old, and he cries harder.
Nights are the worst, and both of us have hardly caught any sleep the last 4 nights. It’s terrible to see such a small child suffer. Between this and so much of work, I am really thin on patience. And, we have a trip planned for Tirupati this Wednesday. I am really praying that he is fine by then.
In between all this, I went for the Police verification procedure to the Police station too for my Passport. Let’s hope that it will be taken care of now.
Don’t you feel that in India, we waste so much of time just getting things done?

  1. Wait till the UID comes!!

Anyways God bless…and keep u ppl in good health

  2. The systems and procedures we are made to follow reminds one of the colonial days.
The idea is for us to know that who the boss is,whose pockets need to be filled. The world is switching on to on-line verification and transactions but our rules are the same which were in force before 1947. I don’t think, rules will change

  3. All the best for the health and govt procedure…i kn it gets on our nerves..hope for the best asap…

  4. YES WE DO WASTE FOR NOTHING….
Be careful during these times of season change. I am sure he will be with sound health by Wednesday.
and best of luck for the trip 🙂

  5. @Jon Yeah, I wish everything could be done online, and we do not have to enter a single government office. If wishes were horses……
    and Thanks

@BKChowla You are absolutely right. They call themselves public servants and are there just for sucking our blood. The worst people on earth are the Indian bureaucrats, police officers, government officers — in a nutshell, bloodsucking leeches.

Thanks rohini. I hope so too. I am just tired.

@Sharodindu Thanks! I have taught him, finally, how to spit phlegm out 🙂

  6. ohhh, we too are going trhu something similar, sonny is down with a stomach upset and fever. coupled with a demolished bathroom, life is difficult right now!!

  7. If there is no throat infection, the cough will be suppressed within a day or two, give him warm water and a good rest is needed. Take care. God bless all of you.

  8. Hi Rachna, regret read your boy not feeling good. Some TLC will help him get well fast….he’ll be fine.
About getting things done where you are in a slow pace?

Funny, I thought India, I mean the main cities by now with all the hi-tech improvements would by now get things done at warp speed?
Anyway, have a great safe trip.
    Best regards, Lee.

  9. @bb hope, your son gets well soon.

    @Suffix Thanks.

@Uncle Lee Yes, you are right. Where things can be done online, it is super fast. But, where people are involved especially government offices, they are damn slow.. And, for a reason… They expect a bribe. Corruption is really very high in India. I feel saddened to say this, and the fool that I am, I don’t like bribing my way around. And, hence have to suffer even more 🙁

  10. First, I hope your little one is all better now. Its so hard as a parent to see one’s child ill. I really like the header photo.

  11. Thanks Cheryl. His cough is better now, and he is able to sleep at nights. I like the pic too, thanks for liking it.
