The Babri Masjid demolition is the mother of all evils thrusting the country to the brink of communal discord immediately leading to riots in Mumbai which were triggered by Mr. Bal Thackeray’s goons. I was in Mumbai and heard heart rending stories of Muslim families being cornered, burned; women raped, it was all atrocious and all so futile. The rising frustration in Muslims and the desperation at the terrible events immediately resulted in the bomb blasts in Mumbai of 12th March, 1993. Since then the distrust and disharmony between the religious groups have been mounting. For a common Hindu or Muslim on the street, the Ram Janmabhoomi movement bore no significance but the brutality with which it was carried out left scars. Even after so many years, the perpetrators are roaming about scotfree spreading their agenda of hatred speaks very poorly of our justice system. The reports and Commissions sit comatose for decades leaving the dead and the injured to seek their own justice.
Really very sad state of affairs. I want to see how many of these Advani, Joshi, Uma Bharti, Kalyan Singh, Mr. Thackeray and Mr. Modi would be brought to justice. Indians are waiting for that justice. Will it ever come?
yeah dats convinient and well said and suits ur well read profile. I am no fundamentalist but cant u guys write the whole story…
Wot abt writing on kashmiri pandits driven out of kashmir 4 lakh of them or 900 girls missing from kerala after they were seen goingout with a muslim boy… u like to be well read n one sided dont u? or are u just so afraid of expressing an opinion on anybodyelse but the Hindu fundamentalists….
@Rachna
I have seen the effect of Babri Demolitian very closely as at that time I was in Faizabad only (went to meet my uncle) and i have seen people droping truckloads of body in river Saryu. The situation was so so so tense ki poocho mat. At our home town Azamgarh, situation was worse as there were full fleged riots and all. After that all thin started. But still I belive that there is some conspiracy behind that demolition. To know why i think so you can read a novel, The peacock Throne by Sujit sarraf.
🙁
@Explorer
Full story???
What the hell are you talking about??
KAshmir issue was a separate thing but what you want to prove by saying 900 girls missing from kerala after they were seen goingout with a muslim boy what is its relevant here?? It is also possible that t hey runaway together to save themself from their orthodox society??
Please STOP looking muslims as Criminals…..
Peace!!!!!
@Explorer I am certainly not afraid to express my opinion about any fundamentalism, period. Frankly, all fundamentalism is bad, Hindu or Muslim. You may see that I have also written about Kashmir and Muslim fundamentalism in my earlier posts. About girls missing in Kerala, as pointed by Bhupesh; you might be aware that even today forget different religions, girls mingling with boys from different castes and communities within Hindus is also looked down upon. Many factors could be at play at their being missing.
@ Bhupesh Yes, we all have felt the repercussions in one way or the other of this event. I will look out for the book you mentioned. I did not realize how bad the situation was as we were in the part of Bombay away from the terrible riots but the newspapers carried such gory stories. I feel ashamed that so many innocents lost their lives and no one came to their rescue. I am happy to see level-minded people like you who are able to see things from all perspectives. Only when we can rise above these barriers of my religion, my language and my culture can we appreciate all Indians and humanity and human suffering too.
