The Congress could not have asked for more as the day began. Their combine Congress-NCP is all set to get a third term in Maharashtra. It is good news only because people like Shiv Sena and MNS should never be part of any government. Their divisive policies and goondaism is very scary for a common person. Else, Congress government in the past decade of its rule has taken a once flourishing, industrialised state and riddled it with massive debts, corruption and farmer suicides. Lack of development and power problems are other major issues. 26/11 happened last year when the entire police and protection machinery was brought to its knees. Despite this, they have managed to survive both Lok Sabha and Vidhan Sabha polls only due to the self-destructive policies of BJP and the dirty sparring of the two Thackeray cousins. Hope that the Congress really does concentrate on the Aam Aadmi this time around.
In Haryana, the Congress will just about touch the midway mark contrary to its expectations of a clean sweep. Chautala’s INLD played spoilsport there. In Arunachal Pradesh, Congress has an easy sweep. This is one of the most backward areas of the country and is in news recently due to constant badgering by the Chinese. Hope that this deeply patriotic state where Hindi is spoken in the smallest of villages as a mark of their solidarity with the Indian Union is treated with more respect. Let the INC give hope and development to the people of this region.
