Our small temple decorated for diwali
Rangoli – with the strong breeze, it was difficult to keep the diyas lit
I love this one

Diwali is over, and a lot of preparation over weeks comes to a culmination. What I love best about Diwali is the laughter and cheer in the air. Another wonderful part is receiving some witty SMS Diwali wishes every year :). Kids love crackers; I just love to watch their excitement. I don’t like sweets too much, but I make it a point to make dal-filled kachoris every year. Now, I’ve to think of what to do with all the sweets received.

Till next year, hope everyone had a safe and fun-filled diwali.

  1. Beautiful pics! On the third photo (on which you look very pretty by the way), I see Gautam running around enthousiastically 🙂

  2. Lovely pictures Rachna, the Rangoli is beautiful with the diyas. It is a bit difficult to keep them safe from breeze, but as long as they are okay everything is fine.
    Happy Deepawali to you and your family.

  3. hey rachna ,.,u look beautiful…rangoli is too goood…hope u had a safe blast this diwali….and enjoy this festive season…happy diwali…to u and ur family

  4. thanks fr sharing these lovely pix

  5. Happy Diwali Rachna.
    Festival of Lights, as the explanation of Diwali appears here, is a very beautiful name for a “party”.
    Around here, women only dress as elegantly as you’re on occasions like weddings. The rest of the year is jeans or skirts.
    Liked the candles. Bright and colorful seems that brings an atmosphere of happiness.

  6. @Bart Thanks :). Gautam had so much fun. He was initially scared of the crackers, but towards the very end really warmed up to the idea :).

    @rama Thank you. It was a simple rangoli, but luckily it turned out symmetrical :). I found that the diyas with wax burned much better than those with oil. I wonder why. Thanks for the wishes!

  7. @rohini Hey thanks a lot! I have started warming up to rangolis and flower patterns :). Maybe, I would try a more elaborate one next year. Yeah, it was great fun. Wish you and your family a great diwali too.

    @Tomz Thanks!

  8. @David Wish you the same :). Yep, Diwali seems to be a long party in the sense of celebration. But, we try to do our poojas in a traditional way. But, traditions are sort of getting mingled with a lot of fun. Dressing up is a major fun part of Diwali. And, trust me you would find me in jeans, skirts and Indian churidars around the year, though I try to be well dressed in what I wear. I hate to look too casual or unkempt if you know what I mean. But, it’s only for special occasions or festivals that I go all out and deck up :).

  9. aww… I hope you had a good time :-). The photos are so sweet 🙂
