small things with great love gratitude

The month of June brought back the semblance of routine and order in my life. Those of us in Bangalore have our lives go topsy turvy in April and May with summer vacations for kids. Our schedules go for a toss. Vacation and travel is on everyoneโ€™s minds. So come 1st June and it was back to Coco and me at home. Each of us relishing our silences. ๐Ÿ™‚ So grateful that I have the choice to work from home and hardly commute.

I also went back to blogging regularly. The entire month of April and half of May I was away from blogging and blog hopping. I guess, after the entire year, this break does you good. It makes you recharge your creative energies. And, this year for the first time, I didnโ€™t fret at all. No FOMO! I guess, even blogging has its learning curve. ๐Ÿ™‚ Grateful to have got a good break and to have traveled well this vacation.

I also went ahead and made my cooking blog โ€“ Rachna cooks self-hosted. There were minor hiccups in redirecting from the old domain but the husband came to the rescue and ironed out all problems. Well, I am always grateful to have him by my side and on my side.

I cannot talk about June and not speak of the weather. When most of the country is sweltering under heat and humidity, we in Bangalore are blessed with blissful weather. Billowy clouds, bountiful rains, green all around and chilly weather. Seriously, weather is what still endears Bangalore to me. Rest we all know where roads, traffic, pollution, power cuts are headed in every major city in this country. So very grateful to be calling Bangalore my home.

I have been reading more but have a very long way to go in feeling satisfied about it. Somehow, I feel distracted when reading. Donโ€™t know why. My workouts are back on track, more or less, except when I miss out on my walks due to evening rains. Grateful for the fitness, stamina and health that this regularity bestows on me.

Canโ€™t believe that half of the year has already gone. First FAs are looming large for the children. The elder son is going full throttle on activities, projects, quizzes and school work. I hardly get to speak to the guy except when I am reprimanding him. Hence, the younger son is my constant companion. His erratic behavior though is exasperating. Working on the tantrums that surface off and on.

So thatโ€™s about all for June. How was your June?

29 Thoughts on “Small Things with Great Love — How June Went By #Gratitude

  1. Ah! Well, that’s an interesting June . .. . . a bit of this ..and that.
Can’t believe it’s been a month since the kid went back to school.
Of course, in return I was ‘blessed’ with an unannounced month-long visit by the inlaws. Sigh.

    Well hoping July is better.

    • Yeah, quite amazing isn’t it? It’s been a month since we reclaimed our lives. ๐Ÿ˜‰ Looks like your ‘blessings’ are unending. ๐Ÿ˜€ Hoping that July is better, mon ami!

  2. I too love the weather here …ofcourse, the constant rains do pose a problem to drying clothes with an infant at home..So, that worries me a bit and the traffic!..June went by so soon, can’t believe it!…I joined back at work, started sending M to creche, had some emotional moments of self doubt but somehow I guess we have come back to a sort of a routine too..I was dreading how I’d balance everything but somehow it’s working..ofocurse, the house is mostly in a mess these days but I guess there’s only so much one can do..I think a happy me is better than a stressed me..All in all, June was good..looking forward to a wonderful July now ๐Ÿ™‚

    • Oh yes, June was a milestone month for you. You will be able to do it, Naba. There will be minor irritants along the way but you have a strong will and a supportive partner and that will pretty much help to see things through. Routine is so comforting. Lots of love to little M!

  3. I loved this post though I can’t tell you why.

Perhaps it is the chatty tone which makes it sound like a letter/ mail you wrote me. Perhaps it is because of the oodles of gratitude. Or maybe it is because seeing you chirpy makes me happy.

Who knows… and frankly, what does it matter? I loved it and that’s that.

    Dagny

    • Perhaps because you love me so much. Always grateful for that. Do go and read the previous post about the younger son. I should have pinged you earlier. ๐Ÿ™‚ Lots of love

  4. Ah, the fabled Bangalore weather… so much to complain about in Bangalore but weather makes it up for all … We here in Guru Gram are still in Sauna…

  5. Have to agree with Dagny. Loved the chatty tone in this piece and the very comfortable way you talked about everything in a month. I know some people wonder at the point of gratitude posts and scorn (yes, they do!) but I have always found them very energising. Makes you pause and reflect on everything good in your life ๐Ÿ™‚

I hear you about the schools and the lack of FOMO too due to blogging ๐Ÿ™‚ And YES! About time we met, woman! ๐Ÿ˜€

    • Thank you, my dear. Yes, I know about these people. Just like you, I think it is great to pause, reflect and be grateful for the small things that we overlook when we take on the crib mode.

Tell me about it; just let me know when and where. ๐Ÿ˜€

  6. ๐Ÿ™‚ Rather than FOMO, I’ve been enjoying a lot of JOMO, Rachna. I love how we can find lots of things in our routine to feel grateful about. As I was telling you, sometimes things reach such a head that there’s really no point worrying about them and raising those stress levels. It is better to sit back and do what we can, within our control to make it better. If not, let things take their course.

All the best for the FAs. Oh, I know that feeling of drifting. Of course we know that’s great, but as Moms… oh well, we have our hearts to deal with!

Truly feel blessed about the weather. This year does seem to have whooshed by and I am glad we got a chance to meet last week.

Love and hugs and thank you so much for joining me in the Gratitude Circle bloghop!

  7. Forgot to say – Rachna Cooks is looking great!

  8. That was wonderful list. I’m jealous looking at that weather para. It is so humid here in Delhi and to top it all the weather forecasting apps have been showing thunderstorm forecasts since past 10 days. Apart from the weather, everything else has been good in June. Since the new session starts in April here, the first FAs for both the girls are over. Hopefully, they might bring back the datesheet for FA2 today along with the fee slips. Have a great July as well, Rachna! ๐Ÿ™‚

    • Yes, weather is a great plus in Bangalore. Come Monday and the FAs start. Have been helping out the younger son. The elder one manages himself. Have a great July as well. ?

  9. The post is a great reminder to cherish small things. All good except on the weather front. As Rekha says, it’s been a very humid and muggy June for Delhi, NCR.
I am not much of a cook so seldom visit cooking blogs.
Wishing you an even better July.

    • The exact reason why l do these gratitude posts, Alka. Yeah, you guys suggest the worst weather. My sympathies! Wish you a great July as well.

  10. Interesting month you had, with a little bit of everything. ๐Ÿ™‚ For us, here in US, June signals the beginning of the summer hols, so I had a LONNNNG month.

Though this month there has been a big change in the status quo on my end – I landed a job, and will be joining the workforce back (after a break of 6 years!) on 5th July. I have worked earlier, but never with a child. I am nervous, yet excited. ๐Ÿ˜€

    • That is truly fantastic, Shantala. About the job front. You’re going to get even busier now. I can imagine the nervousness and the excitement. Congrats on the house as well. ?

  11. I like your food/cooking blog. It’s a good one. June was good and the weather is the best possible. Blogging, reading were highlights for me too.
I love to hear how parents find a companion in children. My parents also come from the same belief so we used to have great conversations and negotiations as home ๐Ÿ™‚
You have a lovely July, Rachna.

  12. Like Dagny and Shailaja said, something about the voice of this post makes it an enjoyable read, like a personal letter. Great that you had such a rejuvenating and relaxing vacation period with travel and all that it brings. Enjoy the weather. I can’t also complain about the weather we are having here lately ๐Ÿ™‚ Wishing you a happy July!

  13. This year has wings, I swear. I just thought we were celebrating new years and now it is almost time for Diwali…!!

  14. It is always the little things that matter, and this post is quite the reminder of that. June for me was quite eventful. But the best thing about June was school reopening. It is quite difficult to do anything with the little one stuck to your hip, and you being his primary source of entertainment.

    • Hehe I can imagine. Kids can do tire you out. I am so happy for all your achievements and especially stoked about that Training program that you will be doing. BTW, that video of S was the ultimate. He must be naughty but he is so adorable. Give him some more hugs from me. ๐Ÿ™‚

  15. We got rains here too last week and the temperature dropped further, making me dig deeper into the blanket. You have been very busy ๐Ÿ˜€ got your hands full with so many activities ๐Ÿ™‚ So many things to be grateful about … have fun!!

Do not leave without commenting. I love a good conversation :).
