I was away on vacation for almost 10 days. There was also the joyous occasion of my brother’s wedding. Thank you all for the diwali wishes and emails. I wasn’t accessing mails and internet regularly. Here’s wishing all a belated happy diwali :). The vacation was so much fun. I went to Delhi after a long time. And, what an amazing city it has become! It has transformed into a glitzy metropolis, but it is heartening to see that the city still maintains its lush green cover. The food is awesome. I loved taking my first Metro ride in Delhi though Metro has recently begun operations in Bangalore. We also visited IITD. My husband is an alumnus, and he gave a nice conducted tour sharing memories dating back almost 2 decades! Met and relived some childhood memories with a cousin’s family who live in Delhi, celebrated diwali with them as well.
Other sightseeing included the great monuments of Delhi. The weather was good, and the time spent was pleasurable. Just leaving you with some pics of the trip. We also made a trip to Nainital and Corbett. More about that one in the next post.
India Gate
Amar Jawan Jyoti
North Block, South Block and Rashtrapati Bhavan in the center
Was waiting for a post of yours. Actually was wondering where you had disappeared until I saw the updates on FB. Good to know abt Delhi. I had visited it almost 20 yrs back and had not liked it a bit, but looking at the pix would love to visit it once more
Delhi is really good in this time of the year. I want to go only during the beginning of winter, summer is terrible there. Did you visit the parantha wali gali? Glad to know about your brother’s wedding, it must have been so much fun meeting all the relatives in one place. Not bad you managed to squeeze in Nainital and corbett too. Post some wedding pictures also
@bbsearchingself Yep, I was staying off internet except for checking mails once in a while. Even I had visited Delhi almost 20 years ago, and it is so beautiful now. Also, I am not a single female traveling so that makes a difference too I guess :).
@Tomz Thanks!
@rama True, the weather was perfect. I was brought up in UP before moving to Mumbai, so I know the infamous North Indian summers :). Nah did not get to visit old Delhi and many other places in Delhi itself because of lack of time. Maybe next time. I did not click any wedding pictures because there was a photographer present. Let’s see when that album is ready and available.
@kavita Thank you! I loved Nainital. I went there when I was a child and now going back after so many years was such fun.
@Bikram Sure but I was let down by Corbett. Nainital was great though :).
brothers wedding..wow..congratulations..you had so many good things happening together..wedding, diwali and a trip to delhi..must have been a real enjoyable time..and weather must be perfect… waqiting to hear about Nainital, as its near my home town and my favourite place too..rather used to be earlier..now its a lot commercialised.
@Harman I also really enjoyed the tour of Delhi. There was a guide too, so it was very interesting to learn about the history behind the monuments. Kids especially enjoyed the stay.
@Renu Oh yes, many good things happened together. Nainital was a lot of fun. I went there in my childhood and felt very happy to go again.
Hey you came to Delhi! The weather certainly is pleasant this month. Glad you had a good time taking in the sights. Next time do visit old Delhi and don’t miss the sound and light show at Lal Kila.
Hi Rachna, belated happy Diwali to you…. I too was in Delhi, returned home a week ago, lovely weather. I guess autumn is the best time of the year to be in Delhi. Did you see the Floss Silk Trees in full bloom? They are making the city look pretty and romantic.
@Insignia Thanks! Yes, you can do so many other itineraries with Delhi as a base. And, the city offers so much that one trip is just not enough to take in all.
I love sightseeing in Delhi. My in laws are there. I have lost most of my old pics. Seeing the pics here reminds me of those trips. Thanks for sharing.
