Most of us watched the coverage of Oscars live last morning to see if the Indians nominated get it. They sure did! Rahman got 2 and Resul Pookutty got one for sound mixing. It was a great feeling to see Rahman get recognition for the great talent that he is. The most heartwarming feature was to see all the child actors turn up in tuxedos and girls dressed up too and enjoying all the attention. They were conducting themselves so well on the red carpet.
I am happy that they have brought home the most coveted statuettes in the world. From the commercial point of view, the exposure at the Oscars was terrific. It is all good for the Indian film industry to be known and appreciated. This would hopefully translate into them getting more work internationally. It’s all good 🙂
It was all over the news in The Netherlands as well. Funny thing is, Rahman and Resul Pookutty didn’t get any time while the kids got all the fame and glory on our summaries of the Oscars 🙂
Mostly, the kids deserved more honors as most of the kids in the movie were real slum dwellers. Azhar and Rubina literally live on the streets. It was good to see them all decked up. I also feel good that the directors have made a trust for these kids for their education.
Other than that I have seen better movies made of India and in India that deserved atleast one Oscar but didn’t get any.
