Luckily for us, we stayed up only till midnight to watch the England vs. India game of the T20 WC. With England scoring just 153, we went to sleep thinking that India will do it comfortably. At least, our sleep was not ruined :). In the morning, shock of shocks India lost by 3 runs and as it was a must-win match; are out of the WC. Last time champions have not even qualified for the semis. There will be reams written about what went wrong and what could have been done in the days to come. In hindsight, everyone thinks correctly.

Dhoni and his men, I believe are still a formidable side in all departments of the game. What took them down was the immense pressure and the nerves. They had everything to play for with a great batting side but with an overtly cautious approach, they dug their own graves. Dhoni was also woefully out of form and being the captain he could not be replaced either. Ravindra Jadeja, the young lad, did very well in bowling but failed with his batting. Things just did not fall in place to form a neat whole. There were chances the captain took on the field which did not capitalise. Bad luck!. They say a captain is as good as his team. This was a wonderful team but unlike last time when they were mavericks, they had a reputation to defend. They just were not fearless enough. People lose in games. Australia was out in the first stage too. But India could not win a single match against a good side and that hurts. But move one, there are so many of these events happening these days. It will be another day at another venue for the teams soon.

And, it is back to sleeping at decent hours for all Indian fans :). South Africa is the team, my son and I would root for from now on 🙂

Do not leave without commenting. I love a good conversation :).
