For any woman with a partner, boyfriend or husband, it seems like these are familiar peeves. In no particular order and completely in jest, here they are:

  • He never notices when I lose weight.
  • He quickly notices when other females lose weight.
  • He is onto my case even if I gain a little weight and suddenly car parts like tires become a part of his regular vocabulary.
  • He is completely confused when asked how I am looking because he sincerely does not know if what I am wearing is new or if I have gone to a salon and done something to my face or God forbid something else that he has failed to notice. LOL
  • His frustration shows on his face when asked how a particular outfit looks on me. He doesn’t know how to diplomatically say that I am looking fat or that it does not suit me :).
  • The only thing he notices keenly are my changing hairstyles or hair colors.
  • His compliments have dwindled down the years, in the guise of “you know me” diplomatic and insincere statements.
  • He does not remember most things including important dates and when I keep checking back if he has done some errand, he says, “stop nagging!”
  • If someone compliments him that he has lost weight, he quickly takes that seriously but if the same is done to me, he says, “oh, I know better.” 🙂
  • He cooks one course and claims to cook the entire meal. In the bargain, he has left half the dishes in the house dirty.
  • He can spend hours in electronics stores among gadgets and consider that constructive. But, when I shop that is a waste of time.
  • His phone calls are all important whereas mine are mostly gossip.
  • He does not appreciate me often enough for all the “sacrifices” that I am making for the family.

What do you say ladies? Do you have any more to add or any you disagree with? And the men, I am sure you have your own list of pet peeves that I would love to hear :).

By the way, it is a blessing to have kids because they are sharp observers; they grasp details. They are a woman’s delight because they notice every single change from your accessories to your dress and even my 4-year-old son is quick with compliments :). And trust me, other women notice everything. So, if you are looking for genuine motivation or demotivation, other lady friends and your children could be where you need to try your luck. Men are simply not tuned in to your crazy needs :).

34 Thoughts on “Pet Peeves of a woman :)

  1. The day I first met my husband to be I had just completed a Cross Country run, legs covered in bramble scratches, mud on my nose and cheek … I swear he always saw that young girl every time he looked at me – so I could never get an honest opinion … the kids are much better!

  2. lol.. i think there is some truth in some of those points. 🙂

  3. Hahahaha!! Interesting, can’t comment on many…btw, I always used to say that she always looked slim whn my ex asked me how she looked in her tight new jeans (in hindsite, I think she did knw I ws lyin thru my teeth! :))

  4. hahaaa… Enjoyed it…:))

  5. my mom and sis would say some of the above things about me as well….;-)

  6. 🙂 yes, good one..

  7. LOL I think you got ’em all on this list

  8. @Jane hehe that’s interesting to know.

@Harish So, you agree :). Thanks for visiting my space.

@R-A-J I am sure, she must have known about the lie :). Deep inside, she must have known how she looked.

    @Irfan :).

  9. @deekay 😉 Your girlfriend or wife will have more things to add on later.

    @Ramesh :).

@Emmy ah, good to hear the young lady’s views :).

  10. Haa I see many women echoing here. I sometimes feel sad for the man when put in a spot. Diplomacy doesnt work; honesty doesnt work; lie doesnt work……

    🙂

    I have one to add.

“Wait for 5 minutes. I am just back from work..Too tired”

    This certainly puts me off.

  11. I have nothing more to add to your list, as you have really done a good job.
It goes to show all men are same universally, just as all women are same everywhere.
It sounds interesting when someone writes it down.

  12. Pet peeves? Oh sorry, I thought it was a to-do list! 😛

  13. @Insignia You are right in your observation. The significant other would easily gauge when lie, diplomacy, or dishonesty is used. I guess it is more of a fun thing, this exchange between partners each one knowing well how the other would react :).

@Bart Yeah, it could sound that way too 😉 More than peeves, it is actually fun because you understand each other so well that you know just how the other person would react. G knows all my hyper reactions, luckily he doesn’t blog about those ;-).

  14. @rama Yes, universally all men and women are so typical in the broad sense. It is good fun to joke about these, as I am sure that the males have a pretty long list too :).

  15. no comments 🙂 he he he he What do i say here now ..

    Bikram’s

  16. Hey rachna ..very nice write up.an award to you from my side. You spoke my heart!Lol ..I couldnt stop laughing throughout.Actually ,even when I ask my husband to cook something ,I recieve the same comment and also the entire mess up from veggie peels to vessels would be actually more of a burden than that simple side dish. And yes ..shopping is such a waste of time for them!

  17. @Bikram I understand :).

@raji hehe Glad that you could relate :).

  18. dropped in 2 say hi

  19. Oh my god. I read it so many times and laughed.

Trust me it does not apply to me ))))

  20. @Ramesh hi 🙂
@A Happy to provide you some laughs. And, I would rather hear that from your wife’s mouth :).

  21. Aahh!! So, it’s the same story everywhere!! Grrrrr…..
Very rightly said, if you need an honest feedback, kids and women friends are whom you need to turn to!! 🙂

  22. @Shilpa Hi, welcome to my space. Of course, women are not always jealous of other women and most often the biggest motivators to each other.

  23. Thanks to you Rachna, now I know it is part of the package! 😀

  24. LOL :)) enjoyed reading it!

  25. Ha,ha…same story …..

  26. True true and true.

  27. Just let your son grow up 🙂

  28. Hah! I thought men were oblivious to hair style changes. They only notice that something is ‘off’. And they express it as such! 😛

Do not leave without commenting. I love a good conversation :).
