I was thinking that now that Gautam has begun school, I’d have much more time on my hands. Surprisingly, that is not so! I have to wake up latest by 6 everyday. I have 3 tiffins to pack for my three boys ;). Gurdev can eat in his office canteen on those days when I can’t give him home food but the school going ones have to take their boxes. Siddharth’s teacher has a list of “healthy” snacks and no matter what other healthy stuff I cook for the entire family, I have to go by this list! Gautam’s work right from brushing his teeth to feeding him and dressing him is done by me. After all of them are off by 8, I get some time to grab my own breakfast and glance at the newspapers.

Then I do one hour of email checking and other browsing before my maid turns up. This one is new so I have to supervise her. I keep doing the other housekeeping chores along with her. She takes a good 2.5 hours. She leaves and I make something for lunch and leave to bring Gautam from school. Once he is home, I have to change him, feed him and then maybe catch some time of TV and newspapers. He takes a nap at 2 and I sleep along with him for an hour max. Siddharth comes home by 4 and another round of snacks for the kids and talking and help with home work and it is time to make dinner. Gurdev comes by 6 and we go for an hourlong walk in the evening. This is our time to “gossip”, swap stories, bitch about others 🙂 and to connect, sometimes we have friends for company too. At 7.30 pm, we have dinner. Followed by some reading for both of us. Gurdev bathes the kids. I have to prepare for the next morning. We put the kids to bed and listen to some old Hindi film songs on radio and that is it, by 10.30 we are in bed. Some good sleep hygiene habits for both of us. No TV, no computer before bed time and a nice warm shower followed by a glass of warm milk with almonds to wind up the day.

I have drastically cut my internet, no more playing games on the PC. I do try to sneak in time to read. But really, I hardly get any time for myself and to think that I had thought of doing some freelance writing work. It seems like I was dreaming. When you see this way, 24 hours really seem so less. So next time when gurdev says – what do you do the entire day, I can ask him to read this blog 😀
