Oh yes, all the natak that happened in Karnataka, no one in the country was left untouched. The less said about Yeddy the better. In between temple visits, vacations, land grabbing, who cared about administration. And, the way the old man negotiated his way through, it would seem like he was getting a promotion rather than a rap for his role in the mining scam and numerous other scams. It is another story that the larger lords go untouched. Where is the prosecution let alone punishment?
The larger point is that the moral fabric of people in this country has touched rock bottom and then what can any bill achieve? It is eventually people manning those judge’s chairs or the official’s chairs. If they are morally corruptible, which in most cases seems very likely then who can help us. Wasn’t it time for each of us to take responsibility for the pitiable state of affairs around us instead of passing the buck around? What happened to social ostracization of the corrupt? Why are the wealthy worshipped irrespective of how they gathered this wealth? Why are we not able to teach our kids that success by any means — fair and unfair is wrong? We talk about morals and our cultural superiority in India — all hogwash. In 65 years after independence, we have seen mass looting of public funds, and as Justice Hegde pointed out “Everyone has their hands in the till.” Who will punish whom? Chor chor mausere bhai.
What purpose does removing CMs serve? Are they prosecuted, jailed, made to pay for their mistakes, and money recovered from them? It seems that most things move because SC is constantly monitoring things, and media makes a hue and cry about it. We have the worst and most incompetent Opposition possible so the Grand Old Party is least bothered about public opinion. The Opposition just makes noises but has no concrete agenda or solutions to offer us. And, all of us are sick of words — we need action. Then we have idiotic babas diluting the credibility of people’s movements. The monsoon session of Parliament promises to be a boisterous one, and we seem to moving towards one more movement.
I wonder if things have hit rock bottom and the only way is up, or if there is more of the bottom to be reached? Also, don’t you think that 5 years is too long for a government term because finally they just throw public opinion out of the window because they are the elected and their word counts not the word of those who have put them in the “gaddi” in the first place. Haven’t we had enough scams to last us a lifetime in the first three years of UPA-2 at the Centre and BJP in Karnataka?

21 Thoughts on “Which way to go?

  1. Seems like 20 year of plan and whatever progress made is going down the drain.

If Yeddy can be so stubborn and challenging his bosses, you know he was not the lone devil. Everyone seems to be part of it.

That guy talks crap like “served people”, “have to get nobel prize”

  2. In this case seems like even the SC is having a a tough time.

But about the 5 year term you mentioned I think a favorable argument would any less and the govt( the good ones atleast) can’t implement things

  3. yes rachna this drama has been really ridiculous!yeddi being thrown out is no where close to his deeds.

  4. @Insignia You are right! Everyone from top to bottom had a share in the spoils. That is why, he was downright defiant. He has made of joke of his position and his state.

@Vijay menon It is always a double-edged sword, but where are the good governments? The only palpable change in the lives of people, I’ve seen in Gujarat. Which other government is doing what it is meant to do?

@raji I know, kya dramebaazi hai?

  5. And yet he thinks that he has been accused unfairly.

  6. It is ridiculous. Every time I think we hit rock bottom, I am proven wrong. Is there a ray of hope?

  7. In fact I was going to write – only Gujarat there in those brackets!

But don’t forget TN they’re atleast giving freebies- give and take policy

  8. @kavita It is ridiculous.

    @A I wonder the same.

@Vijay I put JJ and KK in the same brackets, the only difference is one’s corruption pervades to the family and the other has no family to speak of. Yes, freebies but what about development. Are you seeing good infrastructure, power, water, jobs across TN? I can see that happening in Gujarat.

  9. Opposition whats that.. they are only doing this cause they want that SEAT to fill there coffers .. thats all it is to it ..

even if he is thrown out or whatever he probably has his men everywhere , so now basically is more free to do what he did then, no one to stop now ..

As I wrote in my post a while back the only way to get rid of this nuisence is to get rid of them altogether along with there people , he has gone his people still remain.

That is politics and he has played a master stroke , got away with it all and still enjoy 🙂

    Bikram’s

  10. I was so sick n sick n sick of this Yeddy. he has just murdered any last respect we had for the post of CM
but yes now d ques is …nyay kab ???? the land, d bribes….its like a ‘no return’ policy with these cheapsos. they leave d chair n keep d goodies …thoooo 🙁

  11. It is really disgusting.
I wish some good and smart people would form a strong party, before the next elections. I just can’t think of voting any of the existing parties, I wish we could find a solution. It can’t keep going on like this forever.

  12. @Bikram Yes, I seem to like your solution — erase and start afresh.

@Sujatha All of us decent citizens are sick and tired of this tamasha while these people enjoy with our money.

@rama I feel the same way. I don’t know whom to vote for, and I am just tired of the setup.

  13. I have nothing much to say on Indian politics and crappy politicians!

  14. Why are the wealthy worshipped irrespective of how they gathered this wealth?….this is one question that I have been asking all the time..if we start thinking about it, we will change many things.

  15. The anguish is palpable in everyone of us. Like you say, we have the worst Opposition ever. How can it be any better when it is trying to hide its own muck? Let’s hope this movement pays off and we see some change for the better.

  16. @Harman I know. You can afford to do that, but we living in India have to be worried with the state of affairs.

@Renu I think we must begin thinking about it then.

@cybernag.in thank you for visiting my space. I am hoping the same too. I hope that the churning will bring out something positive.

  17. will someone dump the corrupt politicians in Bay of Bengal!!

  18. Its all Politics.

  19. @Ramesh That seems to be the only viable option.

@Tomz It is, but it affects our lives in the worst possible manner.

  20. Having lived in Blore I know what you are saying…They have made it worse than Bihar in terms of politicians. And why is Yeddy showing the victory sign…shameless creature.

  21. @Alka He takes shamelessness to a new level.
